Many of you have asked why I began this event and what I was hoping to accomplish. Well it started some years ago when a friend of mine commented that I wasn't the typical Iranian. I never thought much of it then and I never really understood what it meant, except that somehow I took it as a compliment. It's only recently that I have come to discover that it was no compliment at all. Much like those of us who pretend to be Persian or even worse Italian I was flattered to be seen as somewhat different.I have come to realize now that no matter how far we may stray from our roots we are all that "typical Iranian". Here is to us then. To our beautiful black eyes, the mischievous smile, to the chest hair, to the long nights of gossip, to the tarof, to evenings spent dancing and crying, to the smell of home cooked meals, to grandmothers desperately trying to hook us up. Here is to all of our friends, to Afshin and Bita, Darioush and Parisa and Rana, Ali, Bahman, Kayvan, Sahar, Zahra, and the rest of our wonderful gang. To our long heritage then, I want to celebrate us all. You are all beautiful.

Our goal at Mshab is simple. We want to let our readers know all the latest news and events concerning Iran and Iranians. Although we are a New York based site, we are dedicated to reaching Iranians from all over the country as well as the world. This is a project which can not be done alone. We will need your help to bring us your ideas and feedback on our progress. Together we can make this site an inspiring collection of culture, thoughts, and vision which will raise our knowledge and understanding of our proud heritage. On behalf of our team, I would like to thank all of you for your support.
